So I just finished up the PHP webmail app for The Wiser Web Panel. Who would of that i'd be writing socket programming a year ago?....certianly not me...but it works..and quite well i might add...this is a big step in moving the The Wiser Web Panel from a client tool to a full fledged IOS (Internet Operating System). My partner's, zach, Java GUI's are coming on nicely...i can't wait to see what we end up with in a few months as we've only ben cracking away at this for since the beginning of feb. It will certainly be intresting. I'll probably make at least the POP3 code available here because i am a big fan of open source. it makes heavy use of the fgets() and fputs() php socket functions...mostly to connect to a POP3 server and retrive messages which are then thrown in a database and removed from the pop server...i have some debugging to do..mostly just for on the client side when it comes to the email management like adding new folders and moving emails around...but its certainly coming along...wish you all could see the entire thing in action...it kinda sucks that you need an account to see the The Wiser Web Panel. But oh well...your loss...i suppose once the IOS is up and running you could subscribe :-)....i'll be sure to keep you all psoted. later.
