So I just got a copy of the new Linkin Park album Minutes to Midnight. First I'd like to say how much of a Linkin Park fan I am, like huge...always been impressed with their stuff. Now this album isn't bad, its just different. If you were expecting hard riffs and intense vocals like Hybrid Theory and Meteora, then your going to be disappointed. This album features a bit more of Mike Shinoda like he sounds in his side project Fort Minor (Check out the album The Rising Tide). The Fort Minor project was awesome, I mean it was really good, I liked what Mike Shinoda did with some other Hip-Hop/Rap artists, a solid album. So anyway I see a lot of that influence here in this album, listen to them back to back and you'll see what I mean. The first thing you'll notice when you listen to this album is that its a bit of a roller coaster of sound, it's up and down, slow and fast, its all over the place. I'm not sure who produced it, but I may have to write them a letter asking them, what the monkey?

Another thing about this is that its also the first time you'll hear some #$!@@!#* words on a Linkin Park album. I was always impressed that they got their message across without the need to be bleeped out on the radio. Lyrically the album is good, pretty standard Linkin Park lyrics, but you'll also notice a bit more of Mike Shinoda on here as well.

Basically this is the worst Linkin Park album to date, especially if you liked Linkin Park from their awesome cords and screaming Chester. You'll actually here Chester sing more than scream on this one, which is good, but it may not be what you expect. I think if I heard anyone of these songs as singles I'd say, that's a pretty good song, but together, in this mash of an album, it kinda bugs me. The other albums were just so well put together, I wonder if they just set the bar to high for themselves.
